- for this role it is essential that you have a drivers license and access to your own vehicle
- carrying out housing management duties such as collecting service charges at various locations
- covering Health and Safety duties at various locations
- the post-holder will work to empower and support women and children to make positive choices
- attend relevant meetings regarding young people or with stakeholders/commissioners, where required
- support to move clients on from accommodation services to suitable accommodation options
- collate and produce reports where required
- to establish resettlement services to support women and children to move on from refuge accommodation
- you will mediate and or negotiate with existing housing providers to help prevent homelessness
- contribute to promoting victim’s safety by supporting women to construct a realistic safety plan
- work with external partners to maximise the opportunities available to young people so that they can resettle in the community
- you will help clients with the practicalities of moving to new accommodation, such as contacting energy suppliers
- cooking, eating and drinking
- you will have your own caseload of clients to manage and will work with them on a one to one basis. You will identify their needs by listening to them and put together a client needs assessment and manage risks
- you will encourage individuals to develop practical skills such as budgeting, shopping, cooking, housework, laundry, personal health and hygiene
- booking and accompanying people to appointments
- you will support your team to achieve their potential through regular staff supervision and coaching and support them with their workload where needed
- to provide one to one support, advice and assistance to women and their children who have experienced domestic violence and abuse and are staying in the refuge
- undergoing basic medical checks
- you will manage young people and visitors in the immediate external areas and any associated safety issues
- carrying out drop in sessions at designated locations
- you will be working as part of a team to provide community support to our homeless clients. You will love helping others and enjoy supporting individuals to achieve their goals and to become more independent
- you will be involved in the recruitment of your team, including relief staff and volunteers and be responsible for ensuring appropriate shift cover
- assisting with personal care such as washing and dressing
- carry out quality checks on our young people’s support records to ensure organisational standards are upheld
- to provide advice by telephone and face to face to assist victims/survivors experiencing domestic violence to understand the services available and make choices about their own future
- liaise with colleges, training agencies, employers to help clients to gain access to education, find work or maintain their benefit entitlement
- helping people to plan meals, cook, eat and drink
- advise client on appropriate agencies to contact i.e. debt and housing issues
- monitoring individuals’ conditions, taking their temperature, pulse, respiration and weight, and helping with medication
- crisis Intervention: Respond to crises and emergencies affecting young people, providing immediate support and connecting them with appropriate resources
- ensure staff are supporting young people in areas such as substance use, health and well being, life skills, money management and managing their tenancies
- follow our organisational policies and procedures
- you will help and support individuals by providing advice on housing, welfare benefits, rent deposits and household goods via a variety of schemes
- travel and cover services across a geographical patch as and when required
- booking transport and accompanying on social outings
- any other reasonable duties required in the interest of the organisation
- the post-holder will work as part of the refuge team, and ensure a high standard of information, advice and temporary accommodation is provided
- ensure an effective and timely response to all complaints and
- help to maintain a welcoming, safe environment, identifying and minimising all potential risks to all our young people, visitors to the service and the building
- working in partnership with Social Services, Education, Health etc to ensure that women and children using our services have the best possible support and opportunities

- valid UK Drivers License
- experience of recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns
- knowledge of safeguarding and risk management
