Responsibility
- to support the development of the Hand Therapy service, striving to ensure best practice, maximum efficiency and productivity and cost effectiveness
- to supervise, initiate and participate in evidence based projects and lead in-service training sessions as required
- to supervise, initiate and participate in audit and service reviews and evaluations as appropriate
- to work as an autonomous practitioner, within scope of practice and deliver a quality clinical service; meeting the clinical and strategic needs of the hospital
- to supervise, teach and appraise members of the Hand Therapy team as required
- to perform an advanced musculo-skeletal assessment of orthopaedic and plastic surgery hand patients including those with highly complex presentations and from this formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan, which is carried out as an autonomous practitioner
- to interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical facts to form accurate diagnoses in a wide range of highly complex musculo-skeletal, plastic and orthopaedic surgery conditions
- to be highly competent in assessing a wide range of hand and plastic surgery conditions based on advanced theoretical knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, often in situations where conflicting evidence is present
