THE WHEELS PROJECT is looking for employees for positions:

vehicle technician

Working hours

  • permanent

Responsibility

  • to supervise and instruct groups of young people, aged between 14-18 years old in tasks determined by the General Manager/Workshop manager
  • to provide the delivery of mechanically-based programmes in the Workshop
  • assist in the design and formal documentation of new programmes when instructed
  • to be responsible for advising the General Manager/Workshop Manager of any breach of contract and/or attendance by any learner
  • metal fabrication including oxy-acetylene, mig and plasma welding
  • this may involve working with disadvantaged members of the community, some of whom may having learning difficulties, have had a troubled past and been involved in petty crime
  • general workshop duties including maintenance, painting and decorating, small scale building works and cleaning
  • to drive The Wheels Project’s vehicles where appropriate

Requirements

  • the post-holder should be qualified to level 3 in motor vehicle skills, have proven ability in an associated light vehicle employment and must be capable of supervising groups of people
  • the postholder must hold at least a City & Guilds 7303 level 2 Certificate in Supervisory Skills or be prepared to undertake a course to completion within 4 months of starting
