Responsibility

  • we make beautiful food and drink that is inspired by flavours from around the world
  • our weekly changing menus use the freshest seasonal ingredients
  • we source from local suppliers and producers, prioritising organic and regenerative farming practices
  • fresh fish is sourced from UK waters only, usually from day boats out of Southwold Harbour
  • the Canteen in Southwold is part of a community project in Southwold, on the Suffolk coast. We are not for profit, funded by the community
  • local gardeners, allotment holders, and foragers also supply us with fresh produce
  • we have recently been featured in FT weekend as their pick of best places to eat on the Suffolk Coast and July's edition of Waitrose Magazine
  • nicola Hordern, our head chef, is a Ballymaloe Cookery School alumna and was Head Chef at the critically acclaimed Darsham Nurseries until its closure in March 2020
