Requirements
- to work with senior colleagues and thePrincipal Investigator, to plan and organise an allocated portfolio of trials
- to communicate with the surgery team at all levels, and with relevant external agencies and research networks
- to assess the patient’s ability to comply with clinical trial protocols
- to support the set-up, roll out and management of a portfolio of clinical trials within organisational timelines
- to provide trial patients with complex clinical trial information, in lay terms, and to provide them with reassurance and support
- to ensure that clinical trial documentation is available and up to date where appropriate for all relevant staff and external auditors
- to assist colleagues to provide accurate and timely trials data to external clinical trials monitors working on behalf of trial Sponsors
- to identify and manage any issues affecting patient care during the set up or provision of clinical trial protocols, escalating those necessitating changes in service support or treatment as required
Responsibility
- to submit accurate and timely information about screening and recruitment of patients into clinical trials for research management and monitoring purposes
- helping to submit study proposals for regulatory approval, and co-ordinating the initiation, management and completion of the research
- to contribute to the secure collection and management of patient-related research data in line with the Data Protection Act and Trust Research Policy
- to identify personal learning needs and objectives and plan with relevant line managers how these needs will be met in ways that ensure continual professional development
- pre-screening/screening - taking bloods and all health checks as required by trials and other surgery team when needed
