Requirements

  • registered Nurse with valid NMC registration
  • completion of an accredited Mental Health Specialist Nurse Prescriber program
  • extensive experience working in mental health, particularly in the assessment and management of ADHD and ASD
  • prescribing qualification and proven experience in prescribing medications for neurodevelopmental disorders
  • knowledge of relevant legislation, guidelines, and best practices governing prescribing in the UK
  • strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to formulate comprehensive treatment plans
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-centred approach
  • ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment

Responsibility

  • conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and formulating treatment plans in collaboration with the clinical team
  • prescribing and monitoring appropriate medications for patients with ADHD and ASD, in accordance with relevant guidelines and best practices
  • providing patient education and support regarding medication management and potential side effects
  • collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic and coordinated care for patients
  • contributing to the development and implementation of treatment protocols and guidelines
  • participating in regular clinical reviews and case conferences to evaluate treatment efficacy and patient progress
  • engaging in continuous professional development to remain up to date with the latest research and developments in the field
  • providing guidance and support to nursing staff and other team members as needed
