Responsibility

  • the post holder will be expected to undertake duties in line with the professional standards for qualified teachers
  • be aware of and comply with all policies and procedures relating to work
  • this post is subject to an enhanced DBS check through the Disclosure and Barring Service and subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks
  • to provide strategic leadership for the development and management of MATHS throughout the school
  • candidates should be able to respect the basis and values of the work undertaken and support the school ethos
  • to identify areas for improvement linked to the School Improvement Plan and local and national initiatives
  • to provide, monitor and evaluate the use of resources related to MATHS
  • to monitor, assess and develop the roles of the class teachers and T/A support staff in MATHS

Requirements

  • to be willing to contribute to the development of learning and teaching across the school
  • high level of energy, motivation and commitment to pupils, their families and staff of the school
  • have the personal impact and presence to effectively motivate pupils and staff
  • have a desire to be part of an innovative school which seeks to engage all pupils in their own learning
  • show a broad understanding of current issues relating to the National Curriculum
  • previous experience within the Primary/Secondary mainstream phase
  • previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs
  • previous experience of individual pupil target setting for pupils who are experiencing some behaviour difficulties

Education

  • to ensure the provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated MATHS curriculum for pupils in the foundation stage
  • to identify clear, appropriate targets for attainment and/or achievement across MATHS
  • to monitor and evaluate pupil progress and achievement against targets
  • to lead evaluation strategies to contribute to overall school self-evaluation
  • to contribute to the school procedures for lesson observation and quality assurance
  • to plan and implement strategies to improve teaching where needs are identified
  • to support teaching and learning in MATHS where needs are identified
  • to provide induction, support and monitoring of new staff where required
