Working hours

Responsibility

to assist clients in all activities of daily living according to their individual care plans
they may require assistance with cooking, cleaning, going to the cinema, doctor's appointment, the shops, or the park
to offer appropriate support physical, emotional and psychological to individual clients, supporting clients to manage their personal care and health needs
to assist all our clients in the areas of nutritional and cultural requirements
to assist service users who need help with getting up in the morning, dressing, undressing, washing, bathing and the toilet
to ensure that service users are as fully involved as possible in decisions which affect them individually
we have an opportunity for experienced support workers for both day and waking night shifts to join our Care Home for service users with moderate to severe learning disabilities and challenging behaviour
to contribute to the protection of clients from abuse, reporting any bad practices

Requirements

experience of teaching independent living skills using a variety of different forms of communication
ability to keep clear and accurate records
good communicator and excellent interpersonal skills and good organisational
ability to be an active team player and the ability to work on own initiative
commitment to good practice and a team approach to work
understanding of the principles of valuing people
previous experience of working with vulnerable people, adults with learning disability or mental health disorder in a residential or a community/day care setting or related field
commitment to equal opportunity and challenging any discriminatory and oppressive practices
