Responsibility

• assist in the operation of and development of experimental fermenter systems to mimic rumen fermentation
• assist in the operation of and development of on farm systems to monitor greenhouse gas production
• analysis of fermentation products including the use and maintenance of gas liquid chromatography systems

• microbial analysis of fermenter samples by microbiological and molecular based techniques
• preparation of solutions, reagents, stock buffers and media for the maintenance and analyses of experimental samples
• management, preparation and maintenance of experimental equipment including planning the use of equipment, and co-ordination with other technical/academic staff
• the post holder’s main responsibility will be to assist with the preparation and analysis of samples from on-going experiments
