laboratory technician
Responsibility
- southwell Poultry Services are seeking a Science Lab Technician to join the team at our Minster Veterinary Centre in Southwell
- performing basic technical laboratory tasks
- we are looking to employ a BSc Bio-veterinary Scientist or equivalent degree individual, with knowledge of veterinary microbiology
- handling clinical specimens from clinical and post mortem samples
- the successful candidate will be flexible and will also be able to work alternate Saturdays when necessary
- culturing bacteria and moulds using selective media
- identification of bacteria, fungi, protozoa and parasites for livestock, avian and equine species using microscopy, staining and biochemical identification kits
- the work will involve farm animal and poultry samples
Requirements
- have a BSc in Bio – veterinary science or equivalent. On-the-job training will be provided
- be willing to work flexibly as an individual and as part of a small team
- have good verbal and written communication skills
- accurate numeracy skills are essential
- be able to demonstrate an awareness of health and safety at work
- take a methodical approach to standardised tasks
