Responsibility

  • sheephouse is a 43-place nursery and out of school club, consistently graded ‘very good’ by the Care Inspectorate
  • you’ll have the opportunity to work with other agencies and also benefit from our partnership with West Lothian Council
  • this is a fantastic role for an existing team leader or an experienced practitioner looking for a new challenge to contribute to the ongoing achievements and growth of our successful nursery and out of school club in West Lothian
  • lead on all planning and evaluation in line with How Good is our Early Learning and Childcare
  • we have a strong reputation within the industry as an innovative and progressive setting known for our best practice and resulting in us being awarded Scottish Government Innovation Award
  • responsibility for ensuring that risk assessments are in place and policies understood and adhered to
  • as well as nurturing and supporting our children, our ethos is focused on ensuring our team have space to grow professionally and we pride ourselves on having fostered a culture of support, continuous learning and growth – which has allowed our team to thrive
  • work as part of the team to meet improvement objectives in line with our Improvement Plan

Requirements

  • minimum SVQ Level 4 or equivalent/be prepared to attain within 12 months
  • 3 years' practitioner experience
  • excellent knowledge and understanding of all curriculums, care standards and guidance, self-evaluation frameworks
  • excellent organisational skills with the ability to work to targets and deadlines
  • knowledge of health and safety legislation
  • strong people management skills with the ability to lead and motivate a staff team
  • knowledge and understanding of equal opportunities
