Responsibility
- take customers' measurements and discuss their required style and material preferences
- prepare individual patterns or adapt stock patterns to meet customer specifications
- examine fabrics or skins for flaws and prepare materials for cutting
- pin or tack garments and fit them on customers or dummy models, making any necessary alterations
- sew garment parts together by hand or using a machine
- make buttonholes and sew on fasteners and trimmings
- shape garments by pressing seams, pleats, and other details
- make alterations to finished garments according to customer requirements
Requirements
- proven experience as a tailor with a strong portfolio of bespoke garments
- excellent hand-sewing and machine-sewing skills
- in-depth knowledge of different fabrics and garment construction techniques
- strong attention to detail and precision in taking measurements and making alterations
- ability to communicate effectively with customers to understand their needs and preferences
- flexibility and creativity in adapting patterns and styles
- good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
