bricklayer
Responsibility
- lay bricks, concrete blocks, and other masonry materials according to specifications and building plans
- construct and repair walls, arches, and other structures using various masonry techniques
- ensure that all work is completed to a high standard of quality and in compliance with safety regulations
- operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively, including trowels, chisels, saws, and mixers
- collaborate with carpenters and other tradespeople to ensure seamless integration of masonry work with other construction elements
- perform repairs on existing structures as needed, including re-pointing and patching
- maintain a clean and organised work area to promote safety and efficiency on-site
- follow project timelines to ensure timely completion of tasks
Requirements
- proven experience in bricklaying or masonry is essential; additional skills in carpentry or welding are advantageous
- proficiency in the use of hand tools and power tools relevant to masonry work
- strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations
- ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately
- excellent physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods
- strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship
- ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated when required
