Lead Systems Engineer Romsey

Roke provides technology innovation and consultancy to a variety of Defence clients and are seeking Lead Systems Engineers to drive forwards some of our key Information Advantage offers. As well as Technical & Leadership credentials, you’ll need a solid understanding of Commercial and P3M activities on major defence delivery programmes such that engineering delivery proceeds in harmony with wider business activity. Success will require an effective and engaging communicator able to explain required approaches and action points to a range of stakeholders from contracted industry delivery teams up to 1 & 2 * level civil servants. You’ll need to be able to act as a trusted advisor to our clients and their business stakeholders. You’ll need to be able to draw on previous experiences of Engineering Leadership roles and be able to demonstrate a clear commitment to Continuous Improvement and Learning from Experience. Experience of successful Agile / Hybrid Agile implementation within the defence industry is a bonus! Roke has a hybrid working policy as does our client base. Collaborative activities are likely to take place both on our Romsey site and on our client sites based in Bristol and surrounding area. Areas of Responsibility / Tasks Working with senior client stakeholders to understand required technical capabilities and timelines across related sets of large scale Information Systems delivery programmes. Provide a leadership role within our delivery teams. Drive forward delivery activity championing systems engineering best practice throughout. Day to day leadership of engineering functional leads. Support development of time bound capability delivery increments in harmony with programme needs. Provide outward facing support into our customer base. Cohere approach with transformation activities running outside of immediate client side delivery team.

As a Systems Engineer within Roke you will have the opportunity to help deliver a broad range of complex and challenging technical programmes within a dynamic and rewarding environment. This is a customer-facing role; therefore, we are looking for individuals who have the appropriate technical knowledge and who are able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels and act as a trusted advisor to our clients. You will be a key participant in the design and delivery of a variety of strategic programmes and business critical initiatives and will be part of large scale engagements where change and evolution of services contribute to this fascinating, and demanding environment.
