Responsibility
- communicate effectively with patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team, overcoming barriers to understanding and service provision
- make recommendations towards the ongoing development and improvement of the department
- direct patient care including phlebotomy, cannulation, spirometry, preparing for diagnostics, chaperone and response to emergency situations whilst maintaining patient dignity and confidentiality
- comply with post registration education and practice requirements for NMC Revalidation
- maintain standards of practice, conduct and decision making and demonstrate a sound problem solving approach to clinical and management issues, seeking advice from senior staff
- practice in and ensure staff compliance with relevant clinical policies, procedures, health and safety regulations and the Health and Social Care Act regulations 2010
- participate in the implementation and execution of clinical auditing, governance and risk management Supervise, teach and support junior nursing and non-nursing staff involved in direct patient care, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and skills to undertake activities and practice within a conducive learning environment Report near misses and any untoward incidents, complaints, clinical emergencies, injury or errors as detailed in relevant policies and procedures and assist senior staff in investigating incidents as required
