Responsibility
- the postholder will attend and investigate water pollution incidents throughout the Southern Water region
- the postholder will undertake field monitoring works including water quality measurements and sampling
- the postholder will undertake desk-based data entry after collecting data in the field
- the postholder will undertake technical report writing in response to water pollution incidents, time limited in accordance with client requirements
- the postholder may be asked to undertake a planned work programme when not attending pollution incidents
- the postholder will provide accurate and timely information to line management
- the postholder will support the team performance by sharing knowledge and best practices at all levels
- the postholder may be asked to attend monthly team meetings with client and contribute where appropriate
Requirements
- degree in a Biological or Environmental Sciences discipline
- understanding of water chemistry and the indicative parameters
- A full clean UK driving licence
- experience in scientific fieldwork, and an enthusiasm for working outdoors in all weathers
- excellent organisational and time-management skills
- analytical and numerical skills with the ability to pay close attention to detail
