Responsibility

  • to carry out shrub and tree planting as part of a co-ordinated scheme
  • to ensure plants are watered and fed along with pest and disease control being implemented as necessary
  • maintain an awareness of the principles behind the organisation of the gardens and presentation standards
  • to assist with seasonal maintenance throughout the year
  • ensure that all tools and machinery are correctly used, maintained, and stored
  • occasional weekend watering
  • to assist with the overall day to day maintenance of all aspects of the garden, grounds, and garden buildings such as sheds and greenhouses

Requirements

  • have strong and proven horticultural knowledge and relevant gardening experience, ideally within a large private garden
  • A recognised horticultural qualification or be in the process of completing
  • an eye for detail and delivering to exceptional standards. Grounds maintenance experience
  • have knowledge of maintaining ornamental lawns
  • have demonstrable experience in the cultivation, planting, and maintenance of a wide range of plants
  • ability to work independently and collaboratively on site
  • personal pride in a high standard of workmanship
  • A good understanding of the principles of organic gardening
