Responsibility
- we are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our team on a 4-month contract with potential to extend
- this unique role will involve working with spiders to facilitate the production of biomaterials for use in innovative medical devices
- the ideal candidate will have a passion for arachnids and laboratory work, with an interest in contributing to cutting-edge medical technology
- calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment and tools
- contract Duration: 4 months
- collaborate with the research team to support ongoing projects
- execute spider silk reeling SOPs/protocols to obtain biomaterials for research and development purposes
Requirements
- confidence/experience in handling live animals, ideally arachnids or insects, in a laboratory or research setting
- familiarity with laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and data recording
- proficiency in maths for accurate measurements and calculations
- strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- ability to learn new information and skills quickly
- bachelor’s degree in Biology, Zoology, Life Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- ability to work 3-5 days per week, with flexibility for occasional schedule adjustments
- experience with reeling or harvesting biomaterials from living organisms
