Requirements
- bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
- proven experience working as a Health and Safety Officer in the construction industry, preferably in an SME setting
- in-depth knowledge of local health and safety regulations and best practices related to construction
- strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct risk assessments effectively
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of the organization
- attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records
- strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make timely decisions in high-pressure situations
- professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are a plus
Responsibility
- investigate all workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures to avoid recurrence
- ensure the company's compliance with all relevant health and safety laws and regulations
- conduct routine inspections of construction sites to assess compliance with health and safety standards and identify areas for improvement
