laboratory technician
Responsibility
- conduct bench and furnace-based methods for the quantitative analysis of platinum group metals
- ensuring to complete fire assays methods on desired timeframes and quick turnaround time
- work collaboratively, exhibiting strong teamworking and communication skills
- maintain accurate and clear laboratory records
- ensuring all work is carried out safely to strict industry compliance standards
- ensuring appropriate stock of chemicals and disposable goods are topped-up and maintained
- demonstrate high EHS standards and behaviours for yourself and your co-workers and ensure work is carried out in-line with appropriate risk assessments
Requirements
- hands on experience in working in a wet chemical laboratory, pyrometallurgical furnace laboratory
- good time management skills and ability to work to tight deadlines
- to be able work under high temperature conditions in which heat of furnace is 1100C
- take a proactive approach to problem solving
- A BSc/HND in chemistry/metallurgy or equivalent
- high level of attention to detail
- be conscientious and meticulous in laboratory work
- an appreciation of quality/regulatory standards and quality systems, in particular ISO 9001, ISO 17025 and ISO 14001
