Responsibility

- planning, developing and managing identified broker development opportunities
- underwrite mid-market anew and existing business cases
- enhance standing and presence locally by maintaining strong personal relationships with key directors and staff at the Region's most important brokers
- follow our broker engagement processes to maximise opportunity
- investigate Insurance legislation regulation and compliance issues relative to transacting business overseas and in the UK
- generate pipeline with your panel of brokers
- work with senior management on underwriting reports and monitoring
- to develop trading methods to secure high conversion through successful lead to quote rates
- maintain personal knowledge of relevant technical issues
- achieve GWP, profit and expense targets by managing and operating to the Key Performer Indicator targets of the region
- underwrite more complex cases based on experience and knowledge
- work closely with other areas of the business on large, complex accounts
- to comply with Binder, procedures and underwriting authority levels
- to undertake a technical QM audit to identify areas of training and development
- support other areas of the business on a technical level
- support the personal development of the underwriting staff in the Branch by delivering technical guidance
- establishing and maintaining strong personal relationships with key staff across the region's brokers
- initiating, managing and reporting on designated projects
- act as a referral point within the team
- mentor and and coach underwriters
- to achieve personal and business objectives
- ensure your panel is running profitably
- undertake referral cases above the authority levels of Underwriters, Assistant Underwriters & Technicians whilst adhering to individual authority level
- display strong trading behaviours and skills that support conversion and the strengthening of our broker relationships
- acting as a referral points for subordinate Underwriters
- grow and develop lasting relationships with brokers and third parties within the region
- offer technical knowledge to other areas of the business
- ensure service standards are achieved
- take ownership for continuous personal improvement within an environment that actively encourages and supports it, including knowledge of relevant technical matters
- work collaboratively with other parts of the organisation, when required
- the jobholder will, at various times, act for the insured and insurer
- work collaboratively with other parts of the organisation, especially the claims and survey teams, when required
- underwriting of new business, by producing terms and converting business. This should at all times be geared to achieving the businesses annual target loss ratios

- deal with Fleet renewals by producing terms and retaining acceptable business. Conduct regular case reviews to ensure that technical procedures and standards are always followed
- meeting new brokers and clients raising brokers' and clients awareness of products launching new products corporate hospitality and visiting UK regions and overseas countries where relationships are developed or need developing further
- work collaboratively and constructively with both team colleagues and those in other parts of the organisation
- to develop high quality relationships with Brokers by undertaking frequent Broker visits to develop the broker account and actively promote the organisation and associated products
- to support the personal development of the underwriting staff by delivering technical guidance and undertaking referrals above the levels of the underwriters control
- assisting in the development of effective communications with all other department, promoting and adhering to TCF culture at all times
- working with the team to understand and contribute towards the professional indemnity strategy and business plan and supporting the strategic development of the professional indemnity account
Requirements
- minimum A level standard preferred
- professional Certification - progress towards ACII preferred
- level 3 ACII desirable
