- conduct feasibility studies and evaluate various mechanical system alternatives to determine the most cost-effective and energy-efficient solutions for building projects
- generate technical specifications, equipment schedules, and design documentation for mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations
- utilize Revit BIM software to create detailed 3D models and mechanical design drawings, ensuring accurate representation of mechanical systems in building projects
- participate in interdisciplinary design reviews and provide input on mechanical system integration and coordination with other building components
- collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical systems into overall building design, considering factors such as space availability, safety, and operational efficiency
- support the development of sustainable and environmentally conscious design strategies, incorporating renewable energy systems and energy-efficient practices
- perform thermal dynamic modelling and analysis to optimize HVAC systems, evaluating energy usage, heat load calculations, airflow, and indoor air quality
- collaborate with construction teams during the implementation phase to provide technical support, review shop drawings, and resolve any design-related issues or discrepancies
Requirements
- bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus
- proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, with a focus on building projects
- strong proficiency in Revit BIM software, including 3D modelling, clash detection, and coordination
- expertise in thermal dynamic modelling and analysis for building systems, including HVAC design and energy simulations
- familiarity with industry standards and codes related to mechanical systems
- excellent knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices, including thermodynamics, and heat transfer
- proficient in using computer-aided design software for mechanical system design and documentation
- ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
