Due to concerns that the trading platform may have been manipulating prices specifically, instances where the buy price consistently exceeded the sell price I made the decision to withdraw my remaining balance. I submitted a withdrawal request to my credit card; however, the status remained “pending review” without any communication from customer support.

After incurring significant losses and receiving no follow-up or clarification, I began to suspect that the situation may have been intentional. Consequently, I reported the matter to the appropriate authorities, who referred me to a financial expert registered with the FCA kristina hooper 24 at -----  gmail ---- com She highly recommended.

Following this, I initiated a legal dispute through the expert. Within just over a week, my full balance was successfully recovered and returned

Employ HDB Building and Restoration at your peril, and if you want to suffer stress and heart ache, they are the same awful Homewood Design & Build, just a different name!
You will get an estimate but it will cost you a fortune to have everything put right after they've gone.

Daniel Standen - Director - for the past few months my company has been targeted and subjected by a number of individuals, Mrs Karen Owen of 34 Swallow Avenue, Whitstable, Mr & Mrs Ellis 2 Woodleas Barming & Mr A. O'Donnell former Electrician (However recently discovered to be a Non Electrical Competent Tradesmen).

All Go Work Reviews and other online & facebook posts that have been made against my companies are 'False and Slanderous' if any customer has genuine complaints you can always contact me directly or you can contact my Solicitor Mr R. Hamilton from Mowll & Mowll Solicotors Dover directly.

Mrs Karen Owen who we built a Stunning New Build House for back in 2023 & 2024, previously sent me a message saying (which we have kept and all messages have been sent to both Kent Police and our Solicitor) 'Dan, we only have you to thank for all of this. I feel like we've won the lottery as I never expected my wildest dreams it would turn out as good as this. We will forever be so grateful to you. Bottle of wine is already open. Hope you all have a lovely well deserved break. - this was messaged by Mrs Karen Owen - I am happy to disclose all messages sent by Mrs Karen Owen. Karen Owen made us wait 6 months to be paid for an interim invoice for over £20,000' they said they could only pay us £250 per week / £1,000 per month, we even offered Grant, Karen's husband a temporary job as a truck driver to pay off the debt sooner, and this was declined. We were also asked by Mrs Karen Owen that we finish the build and then they can re-mortgage the house to pay us, but we were already £20,000 plus owing, No Contractor would carry on working after nearly 6 months not being paid.
Understandably we should of at that point stopped all works and Issued a 'Breach of Contract' however we carried on with the build but by the time the project was nearly finished ie 2no Juliet Balconies for the value of 6K was not carried out by ourselves because we had enough, as they were still holding back money for the remaining landscaping works. Mrs K Owen has since then gone on a campaign to ruin my company and reputation, she has shown her true colours by the way she has dealt with this going on social media and work reviews campaign against my business, myself and even my wife and children have been subjected to abuse - even from people we have not even worked for, I have been to the police and my solicitor, who is currently taking steps to make Criminal & Civil Actions against Mrs K Owen, (false names includes Blue Peter, Paul Willis, Anonymous, Conned by Homewood, Just another disgruntled customer of Homewood and many more....
Also Mr A O'Donnell - an electrician we have used for the past 3-4 years, originally worked with Mark, which we were told they were both qualified electricians, Arron & Mark fell out and Arron who claimed was qualified and showed us false papers to say he was , however after completing projects back in 2025, we discovered he was not on the Electrical Competency Scheme and therefore was not qualified, he should not be working as an electrician we have reported him to NICEIC & NAPIT, Plus to Trading Standards, Local Councils etc, and we are preparing a Legal case against Arron O'Donnell for works he has completed and been paid Interim Payments for, in October 2025 he was paid 5K on account subject to him issuing an Electrical Completion Certificate for works he had completed however our emails/phone calls were ignored and the certificates were never produced, our claims include Costs for Third Parties to rectify / sign off the works involving the local councils. Arron O'Donnell now appears to be making false claims against my company myself and my children, this will be dealt with by Kent Police & my Solicitor.
For the Past few months I have been advised not to respond and fuel the situation, lines have now been crossed, false accusations of ordering a £12k kitchen and running off with money, is a lie - I have never taken money for a kitchen and not installed it, All Parties involved will now have the full weight of the legal system put against them and in light of further false allegation, defamation of character, threats against my family namely from Mr A O Donnell and evidence of criminal damage on one of our sites , Kent Police will now escalate the two already Crime Report / Incident numbers for action to be taken.

My Solicitor and myself have a great deal of evidence from all these false claims against my company, myself and my family, the consequences of these actions are not only damaging to myself but also all my valuable and loyal tradesmen, these false name and untrue claims are not only hurting my company and myself, but you are also hurting my tradesmen, saying 'poor workmanship' etc - which I have never received a complaint regarding the workmanship - in fact Mr & Mrs Ellis not only praised our workman also asked for them to work for them directly, only one actually did which was Mr Arron O Donnell which also demonstrates he has not integrity or loyalty to the contractor he is working for.
I think its disgusting that Mr Arron O Donnell is targeting my 16 year old daughter and her horse using the name 'Dozy Daffodil' & 'Perfect Primrose', plus the text and voice mail messages of threats against my children and harass where they have their lessons. Obviously all the threats of violence to myself and my family directly has all been logged and reported to Kent Police,

We have been in business for nearly 11 years, with a turnover of £1.5m to £2m per annum, we work for many customers per annum and many loyal returning customers, completing stunning and amazing projects and finishes, but unfortunately you cannot please everyone, especially when customers do not pay / breach of contracts, we have to take action, but the modern world allows for people to make false claims and accusations about a company or someone, hide behind many false names to try and make the situation look a lot worse than it actually is, to destroy a company and its reputation, As Mrs Karen Owen knows I have several text message from her, clearly stating that if I dont pay her money she will destroy me on Social Media and online. However, she had her day in court and all this abuse for 6K for two Small Juliet Balconies we did not complete when the overall build was 350K for a new build project. I wish we had never met Mrs Karen Owen and started the project, i dont think other contractors would be so easy going not being paid for 6 months and where we made our mistake was not putting them on notice when they breached the contract.

Mr A O'Donnell you are a Real Fraud so called Electrician, you are only making these claims because we are taking action against you, you should not be carrying out electrical works when you are not registered and therefore not competent, you will be found and I will make sure action is taken against you, your physical threats against me, my business and now my family will be dealt with via Kent Police and my Solicitor, however I understand you have now moved property or are hiding away from the authorities tracking you down. We know you have form for domestic violence against your former partner, who we know very well and your history of your drug taking habits and for these reasons alone I would recommend no person should ever engage with Mr Arron O Donnell, Margate/Ramsgate Area, Who plays the 'Mr Nice Guy/ but is not a very pleasant person at all.

This is all very embarrassing & distressing for myself, my family and my business, it is having a massive damaging affect to my business, but I will make sure all those involved listed persons using many false online names are dealt with legally and proper channels, without the trial by social media.
We have loyal customers & family that are standing by us and are willing to give references of our works, some have even advised us that Mrs Karen & Grant Owen have spoken to them and made contact with them but they have come to us absolutely disgusted by her Facebook and Go Works campaign.

Hey Dan, it’s me from the yard. You know that people kill themselves over stuff like this, older people especially feel ashamed and embarrassed and don’t like to admit that they fell for a con. What sort of example are you setting to your daughters, go out and rob people, hurt people. Why not try and get some shred of respect back, show them that real men can own up to their mistakes, sell the house, cars, horses etc. and pay people back as much as you can out of what’s left. You may be poor then but you’ll have done the right thing and you’ll be able to start again. Of course you won’t do this because you think you’re invincible so I’ll just grab the popcorn and sit back and watch your mighty fall from grace. So will the rest of the yard, we don’t like people who lie and rob.

You’re a liar and a conman. You haven’t been ill, you been well enough to carry on taking people’s money, and not delivering anything in return. You splash the cash to others but it’s not your money. You’re buying horses for your daughter but it’s not your money. You bought a horsebox but it’s not your money. You live in a nice house bought with other people’s money. You need to try actually doing an honest day’s work instead of robbing innocent and vulnerable people. Time for you to accept that your actions have caught up with you and face the music.

They got me to pay upfront 12k for kitchen before they could order it, I never received kitchen and they never ordered it ! As I contacted the kitchen company directly. Then blocked my number and refused to pay me back my 12k Daniel and Lindsay Standen should be ashamed of there self’s I’ve been to there big house all paid for no doubt from ripping off decent people sham on you

HDB Building and Restoration is owned by the same individual as Homewood design and build. Avoid. Also Lindsay Standen has set up a company. She is/was a director of the building company. Now is injecting people

Starts off all nice and impressive but will cease communication, or turn confrontational, once challenged and scrutinized. Do not recommend.

Dreadful company. Do not trust this man or his wife. They will take your money and not complete the work. They have no principles and will invent more work to pay for as you go along. Also work that is done is of very poor quality. Find another builder this one will bleed you dry then walk away.

We are in dispute with this company for unfinished work which has been paid for. A County Court Judgment was issued on 22 Oct '25. To date, Daniel Standen has not paid a penny. This company is shameful and needs exposing to the wider south east area to stop them from ripping off anymore people. Kent Online have been notified as have the police and this is just the start. There is hard evidence that this company are non compliant with the law and do not have an ounce of decency or respect for its customers. They will take all your money and leave you with nothing and the worse of it is that they simply do not give a damn! Be ware and be warned.

Sorry folks I've had to delete the Facebook group due to constant accusations of me being all of you!! This goes along with threats to me personally.
We know the truth but Mr Daniel Simon Standen obviously doesn't.

I would not normally respond on this platform, however the continued publication of false and misleading reviews leaves me no choice but to correct the record. This response is posted solely to correct false statements. Defamatory content has been formally documented and addressed through the appropriate legal and platform-reporting channels.

The reviews posted under the usernames “Blue Peter” and “Conned by Homewood”, by Mrs Jan Ellis, contain serious allegations that I categorically deny. Homewood designed and built a stunning single-storey extension, installed a new kitchen, downstairs Shower Room and new patio at the Ellis property. All required planning permissions were obtained, the works were completed they have now been signed off, and the clients remain living comfortably in their home. Throughout the project, positive feedback was repeatedly given to our site team.
As with most construction projects, there were a small number of issues & minor snagging items, including:
Incorrect handles to roof lights which need to be changed
Cosmetic marks requiring an additional coat of paint to the kitchen ceiling - these would not be considered as 'Big Issues' and the claim that we have not been back to your property is untrue as we have had a team back at your property to attend to some of the snagging items. Although we will admit the works did run over but I do not believe it warrants the continuous negative reviews.
We have always confirmed in writing that these items and others would be rectified, along with repairing or replacing a garage door damaged by a third-party skip company.
At no point have Homewood or myself acted fraudulently, nor have we left the clients with “big issues” as claimed. These allegations are untrue and unsupported by evidence.
It should also be noted that a final account monies still remains outstanding owed to Homewood from these clients and has not yet been issued, pending completion of the agreed snagging items.
Unfortunately, the relationship has deteriorated following the continued posting of negative and misleading reviews, including the creation of dedicated pages targeting my business. This behaviour has made constructive communication extremely difficult.
I would like to also address other comments that have been made on this thread, I have been very unwell for the last 3 months and still receiving treatment, however after a pause in works we now have a small team back at work. The question of the workmanship and the trades which we have working for us over the years has never been an issue, all of Homewood Trades that work for me have worked for me for years and their workmanship is exceptional, I admit that we have made mistakes and 'dropped the ball',

We are are amateur journalists investigating a large scale fraud by Homewood Build over a significant period of time. We are trying to get enough evidence to get him arrested and face justice along with writing a piece to publish to stop him from being able to operate. Don't be fooled he is a con man and never finishes what he starts. Unless of course you have an endless pot of money!

We have had the same problems. Reading your comments is like reading the last year of our lives. Lie after lie, promises after promises with work left unfinished. We have more updates on what's happening through the trades than the man himself despite paying for the service. Happy to get in touch but not sure how?

BEWARE of Daniel Simon Standen, or any of his companies... Homewood Design & Build Kent is an absolute shambles. No doubt his new company HDB Building & Restoration Ltd will be just as bad. He is a serial liar who it seems is happy to charge for work he hasn't done and will not do, and he totally overpromises and underdelivers. If he treats his employees as he does his customers then if you are looking for work, steer clear from working for him.
Shoddy practices and diisregard to safety or damaging neighbouring properties like mine. I ticked "customer" below but thankfully did not actually employ them. I am finally talking again to my neighbours who did employ them and I am shocked by the catalogue of disasters from their point of view too.
Do not be fooled by the swanky website. A reverse image search shows most of the photos to be stock photos, or photos showing the work other (professional) companies. Looks great, but that's because it is NOT by Homewood Design and Build Kent!

DO NOT engage with this company! Has anyone taken them to court or interested in a joint court case. Our project started 3 years ago. They've taken a lot of our money to pay for the goods but refused to proof these materials or purchase ever existed

We have had several projects carried out by Homewood for over a period of 5 years, I have found their work to be excellent and all the trades that work for them knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I have left this review because I know that each and every aspect of works that have been carried out by Homewood I was given I received very detailed specification and quotation and No additional works were carried out unless written authorisation was given.
I don't normally write reviews but the very last project we had completed not only was very well executed the design which was carried out by them was exceptional and considerate.

BE VERY CAREFUL when working to a budget. You will be bled dry. Work left unfinished and do not care about you. They take all your money and don't come back.
