bricklayer
Responsibility
- lay bricks, concrete blocks, and other masonry materials in accordance with specifications and blueprints
- construct walls, arches, and other structures using various masonry techniques
- ensure the quality of work meets industry standards and project specifications
- use power tools and hand tools effectively for cutting, shaping, and finishing masonry materials
- collaborate with carpenters and other tradespeople to ensure cohesive project execution
- perform repairs on existing structures as required, including repointing and patching
- maintain a clean and safe work environment by following health and safety regulations
- assist in the training of apprentices or less experienced workers when necessary
Requirements
- proficient in masonry techniques including bricklaying and stonework
- experience with power tools such as saws, drills, and mixers is essential
- familiarity with hand tools used in masonry work
- ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately
- strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail in all aspects of work
- physical stamina to perform manual labour for extended periods while maintaining quality standards
- knowledge of roofing techniques is advantageous but not mandatory
- welding skills are a plus for certain masonry applications
