Responsibility
- provide emotional and practical support to children in care
- encourage and support the development of life skills and independence
- develop and maintain positive relationships with children, colleagues and other professionals
- maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports
- promote independence but also assist with daily activities such as preparation of food, encouraging personal hygiene and enjoying activities such as bowling, gaming and going to the cinema etc
Requirements
- previous experience working with children in care or in a similar setting
- understanding of child development and the impact of trauma on children
- ability to communicate effectively with children and young people
- willingness to travel to various children's homes
- ideally you will have experience supporting adults either either at home or in a care home
- you need to be a very calm, caring individual with a positive outlook
- ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekend
- empathy, caring and sensitivity to the needs of others
