Responsibility

  • generation Underwriting is a specialist MGA dealing exclusively through brokers
  • we proudly differentiate ourselves as a professional, advice led underwriting business
  • established in the North East of England in 2010 we have expanded our operations and are growing rapidly across the UK
  • an opportunity has arisen in our Newcastle office for a Trainee Underwriter
  • as part of the WF Risk Group, Generation has the financial backing of one of the UK’s largest family run and independently owned insurance services providers which has over 40 years of trading history
  • you will work with a team supporting the profitable development of our fleet and commercial SME account by developing your expertise and experience in underwriting a range of commercial risks within agreed processes and risk appetite, to achieve business development and retention targets
  • you will have the opportunity to develop relationships with a panel of brokers and learn and expand your underwriting skills across our portfolio of products

Requirements

  • taking ownership of allocated cases and work proactively with the broker to negotiate the right outcome
  • identifying non-standard or complex risks and escalating to ensure they are handled appropriately
  • actively engaging in the identification, prioritisation, negotiation and winning of profitable renewals in line with agreed business strategies and delegated authorities
  • managing customer interactions in an efficient, courteous and timely manner in order to deliver high standards of customer satisfaction
  • establishing excellent trading relationships across our broker panel
  • develop and maintain good internal relationships to support the end-to-end delivery of the customer proposition
  • reviewing allocated cases and delivering underwriting decisions, following agreed processes at the designated authority level and with the necessary direction and support, to secure profitable business within the agreed risk appetite
  • compliance with legal, regulatory and policy requirements
