structural design engineer
Working hours
- full-time | Permanent
Responsibility
- develop structural designs using engineering principles and practical construction knowledge
- prepare structural reports and calculations for building control sign off
- work with CAD technicians to produce engineering drawings for tender, building regulation sign off, and construction
- work closely with team members and collaborate with other consultants to ensure designs are fully coordinated
- undertake site visits and structural surveys
- produce structural calculations by hand and with computer software. Knowledge of Tedds and Tekla Structural Designer is preferred but not essential
Education
- bachelor's
Requirements
- A good Engineering degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or equivalent
- minimum 3 years' experience in the design and specification of building structures in the UK
- relevant experience in the design and specification of building structures
- ability to produce high quality structural engineering calculations and drawings
- ability to work as part of a team, liaising directly with clients, architects, contractors, and other team members
- knowledge of CDM and a good understanding of how to develop design solutions to mitigate health and safety risks
- chartered or near chartered engineer and membership of ICE or IStructE
- knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred but not essential
