Responsibility
- analyse weekly sales data to review product and category performance and make decisions to remerchandise, promote or delist products
- constantly review cost pricing from suppliers and alternative suppliers and negotiate to ensure we're buying for the best price
- build strong relationships with key suppliers and work collaboratively to boost performance with instore promotions, tastings, events, and POS materials
- design price promotions, introductory and loyalty offers, and merchandising displays to boost department sales while maintaining profit margins
- work with suppliers and internal team to ensure stock reordering is in line with demand, optimising quality and availability while managing waste/overstocking
- do market research and competitor analysis to ensure we optimise our product ranges, visual merchandising, and pricing for our customers
- take ownership of category sales performance and work collaboratively with shop floor team to identify opportunities to improve and deliver against weekly KPIs
- work with Head of Brand, production kitchen, and external suppliers to develop innovative new home made and own label products
Requirements
- experience of Retail Buying or Category Management, preferably in fresh and speciality foods
- excellent relationship-building ability both with suppliers and internal teams with good negotiation and influencing skills
- strong communication and time management skills
- appreciation and understanding of maintaining brand values and quality
- good understanding of consumer trends in fresh food retail and speciality food sector
- strong commercial awareness and understanding
- ability to cope with the pressure of fast-paced and changeable working environment while meeting targets and deadlines

- monitor shelf stock levels and ensure products and displays are maintained to the highest quality and visual standards
- regularly feedback to buyers to improve product ranges and availability from suppliers
- assist in delivery of promotional events and reorganising merchandising layouts and displays
- set daily team priorities to improve performance and achieve weekly retail KPI targets
- prepare rotas for shop floor team and manage staffing levels to meet the needs of the business
