Responsibility

  • LOCATION – FAASS, Lillesdon, Nr Taunton, TA3 6BY
  • CONTRACT TYPES – Permanent day shifts, permanent waking night shifts and sessional contracts
  • the babies may have been identified as being at risk of trauma, neglect or abuse
  • FAASS is a unique family centre providing 12-week residential placements for parents and their babies, where parenting support needs have been identified by Social Services
  • the parent may have learning difficulties, or have been previously impacted by drugs, alcohol or domestic instability, which has impacted on their ability to properly care for their baby
  • throughout the residential placement, our team give the parents advice, basic training and support to help them develop the skills needed to keep their baby safe and nurtured
  • our staff record observations of each family’s progress as part of or assessment service, working in partnership with both Social Services and the family court
  • the whole team have a child-focused approach, combined with their commitment to learning and improvement they have gained a reputation for service excellence

Requirements

  • experience within a Social Work setting including the supervision and/or management of personnel together with family assessment experience
  • extensive knowledge of safeguarding and protecting children from harm
  • excellent report writing and interpersonal skills to a standard as expected within an assessing capacity and/or for jurisdiction purposes
  • A qualification in social work that is approved by Social Work England and will work in line with the professional standards set by Social Work England
  • A knowledge of current legislation particularly The Children Act 1989, National Minimum Standards in Fostering, The Fostering Regulations 2011, The Care Planning, Placement and Case Review Regulations 2010
  • to hold a full UK driving license and have access to a car that is fully insured, with business usage, and has a valid MOT
