- develop and manage reserves in alignment with reserve policy
- ensure the accounting software is fit for purpose and used to its full potential and in line with the Trusts instructions

- support the Chief Operating Officer in the preparation of annual accounts, DfE returns , Teachers Pensions Audit and other financial statements in accordance DfE/ESFA/HMRC requirements
- management of annual planning, budgeting and reporting processes and timetable, including annual budget, annual review and preparation of three-year financial projections aligned to achieving strategic objectives
- line management and support of finance administrator
- preparation of the annual statutory accounts and management of the audit
- engagement with payroll services to ensure accurate payroll journals and reconciliation of the payroll control account, providing oversight of other key month-end checks
- work with the Trust executive and Academy leadership teams to support strategic planning
- ensure that effective accounting records and financial control systems are maintained and that all financial matters are dealt with in a proper and secure manner
- responsibility for updating and maintaining all financial procedures to ensure maximum efficiency and control
- finance Business Partner
- preparation and submission of relevant Charity Commission, Companies House and HMRC returns
- provide expert advice to the Trust executive; Trustees; and local governors as and when required
- ensure that all income due is promptly collected and monies owed are paid in a prompt and efficient manner, specifically manage and control debt
- preparation of management reports as appropriate
- qualified Accountant, ACA, ACCA, CIMA
- review and submission of quarterly VAT returns
- this key technical Financial controller position will ensure regulatory and statutory compliance
- monthly reconciliation of financial systems and ledger balances to provide timely and accurate monthly trial balance
