Locksmith arrived in private car. Immediately got my daughter to sign a form before unlocking the door. I expected that he would use a key instead he drilled the barrel out of the door and destroyed it. He then offered a new lock at £269 for a replacement.
The charge was £49 call out and £149 plus VAT, but they are not VAT registered. A friend bought a new lock for £25 and fitted it in ten minutes.
DO NOT USE
Total scam of a company. Our lock needed changing and so contacted what we thought was a company called Finsbury Park locksmith. We were quoted £220 plus labour and call out plus a latch. No mention of the cost of the latch or VAT.
In my mind this was probably going to cost around £350 so I agreed.
He changed the lock and then gave me the invoice from DIYBEST LTD for £904!!!!!!!
I couldn’t believe it. The nightlatch was an additional £330 plus the cost of VAT on everything. Why on earth did he not tell me the cost of the latch before doing the work. It was the expensive part by a huge margin.
I don’t think these people are honest and take advantage of people in a vulnerable situation.
£904 for changing a front door lock!!
The company should be reported and investigated.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
Came to ‘fix’ front door as couldn’t be opened he turned to and said the lock was fine when we couldn’t even open the door before hand and was offered a ‘cleaning service’ changed £202.80 for a 5 min job and I see it as nothing of help in my eyes . Go to close the door after he leaves and the door doesn’t shut. Whole locking mechanism broken. Called to see if he can come back and take a look and was told we broke it and nothing can be done when clearly a mistake on their half and refusing to be fixed when invoice states ‘warrant for 6 months’
DO NOT USE WORST COMPANY, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. OVER CHARGING AND CLEARLY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEYRE DOING.
The issue is that DIYBEST Ltd has been liquidated, and it's clear that the operatives are all officially employed by different agencies but ALL use DIYBEST in their invoice. To be very honest, I'm rather keen to collect all information I can find on this operation and report them.
I had a tenant last week paying £714 for a replacement lock when quoted £215.
They charged VAT and the number is not registered. I am going to inform HMRC and have asked for the money back!
SCAMMERS
I contacted this company to come unlock my door as I had been locked out my house. After arriving in a non company VW POlO he instantly began by getting me to sign a form. then informed me that the price was £49 call out and £149 to "unlock" the door. After agreeing he began drilling out my lock without informing and before I could say anything he had destroyed the lock. After butchering my door I was told it would be £600 for a new lock After denying as the lock could be replaced at the price of £25 they handed me a £237.60 invoice that was not agreed at the beginning of this scam.
Never ever use this company - they are completely dishonest and over priced. They charged my employer's daughter a crazy high price which was way above what it should have been. I then complained to the company and I was told by Emily at DIYBEST that I would receive a partial refund. That was over two months ago and what a surprise no refund. So totally dishonest and very unprofessional. Shame on them. Unfortunately they just do not care.
I had the most horrendous experience with this locksmith, tried to charge me £800 after I was told £79 call out fee and £95 p/h labour charges and then kept changing the price. Not at any point was any extra charges explained to me such as £300 just to unlock the door otherwise I’d have declined as that is ludicrous! Tried to intimidate me calling me a stupid young girl, laughing at me and refused to leave my house after insulting me. When my partner tried to pick up the invoice to look at the cost breakdown he grabbed him and refused to let go of him so my husband had to shove him off! I ended up paying £300 just so he would leave and told him to take the lock out as I wasn’t paying £200 for something I could get at screwfix for £15, which I did and managed to change myself! Wouldn’t even rate 1 star, taking this to the highest possible level that I can.
These guys are scammers, was charged £500++ for a lock change!!! I have notified them that it was not an emergency matter and called during regular working hours, yet charges remain.
Upon reviewing the phone number that was used on the day +44 7979 103888 (they called me before arriving), upon checking the number on WhatsApp - the profile that was linked to this number belonged to ONE BY ONE London Locksmith. However, the invoice they issued listed DIYBEST LTD. I suspect something isn't right, if anyone else has the same experience do leave a comment.

VAT Fraud and SCAM artists DO NOT USE! We wanted to claim the money back via insurance to be told the VAT number is incorrect - I have been speaking to them since, they promised to reimburse the VAT amount 4 weeks ago... still nothing! I will be reporting them to the authorities.
AVOID...SCAM...AVOID. Got locked out of the house; Google review gave their company number; Lukas turned up in about 20 mins, drilled the lockout from patio and gave me a bill over £700 pounds which included £200 fee + £49 callout + cost of locks etc. He told me that I can claim on my insurance. Turned out the VAT number on his receipt is bogus. Checking company house, this company keeps moving the address. The charge should have been around £300 but got totally ripped off. At the time, I did not realise of all this. Please avoid this company; as per other comments be very carefully when calling out.
Turned up in about an hour to arrive.
They almost immediately decide to drill the lock and us knowing no better trusted them.
Turns out there was a key in the door, but we didn't know, so any non-destructive test would've found that out and meant we didn't need to drill, could've used a coat hanger and fixed it for way less time and money.
Total cost of £600 is ridiculous, they're a scam, do not use.
Do not touch this Company. They were called out by my 90 year old Mother because her Front Door Lock was sticky. They charged £125 call out. Then asked for another £740 on top to fix it. Charged VAT when that are VAT registered. Fortunately, good neighbours and Family stepped in. We paid the £125 call out, refused to pay the VAT. Told him to go. They should be investigated. Ripping off a 90 year old Widow; shame on them and also the Authorities for not going after these crooks.
We lock our keys in the room, they came to open the door which they even destroy the lock. They charge 185 pounds, 51 pounds VAT and 65 pound for call out making a total of 309 pounds.. I was so pissed because my husband paid him even though I told him not to pay him that amount since it was too much …They are scam
This company is a scam. Told me that call-out costs would be around 50 pounds. I locked myself out and the locksmith was able to open it within a minute through the letterbox slit. Charged me 270 pounds for this. Do not book through this company as they take advantage of you!! Didn't even tell me his name.
SCAM! Not only did they charge us £444 to simply open a door, but they did significant damage to the door as well. They take advantage of vulnerable customers and overcharge. They subcontract people and don't even tell you that which is their due diligence. DO NOT USE DIY BEST.
Scammers. £255 for a cheap lock.
Complete scam of a company, charged £400 to change a lock. Wouldn’t give me a straight answer of how much it would cost until the end. Please avoid them at all costs.
Bad experience, overcharged on the price, he's said change a rim lock, he's didn't. Only did drill, change cylinder locks, labor. £709 be careful. With this locksmith company
Overcharged, he's said change rim lock, and he's didn't. He's replaced a cylinder lock.
Drill , change cylinder locks, labor £709 .
Extortionate price! Stay away
Due to the stressful situation I didn’t check reviews
I paid £444 !!!
That does sound expensive. Can you share what the service or product was that cost so much? Did it include any special features or add-ons to justify the high price?
The boy they sent was kind and efficient
He tried a few things but then he had to drill to get in and a new lock installed
Call 49
Work 149
Lock 149 vat on top
They never reveal their prices apart from the £49 to start with
The most concerning part is that the invoice is from a company
Diybest which it it not the company we called
There is a locksmith scam running under this company costing people extortionate amounts of money. The website for the locksmith is different but the invoice and company number are all tied to DIYBEST Ltd. Do not trust any trades using this company name!
