Responsibility
- ability to prioritise workload dealing with a demanding transport plan, for multiple customers
- use software systems and geographical knowledge to plan the routing of vehicles to ensure route optimisation
- develop back haul lanes with both company depots and 3rd party customers whilst maintaining fleet utilization

- daily input of KPI's, delivery and collection issues, preparing paperwork
- manage and understand Working Time Directive Compliance and comply with all Transport legislation
- support the regions in managing resources to ensure we make best use of available vehicles and staff
- first point of call for drivers to ensure they understand their planned work and resolve any day-to-day issues
- ability to cover loads with Sub-Contractors and negotiate rates
- providing solutions to customer queries and complaints, also demonstrating the anticipated level of customer service
- support the business with acquisitions, by integrating new work into existing routes and achieving synergy savings for the business
- reacting to changes in customer demands to meet their needs
- understanding of associated costs
- facilitate the mobilisation and internalisation of work that is driven from central teams
- work with compliance team to ensure vehicles are planned appropriately to meet maintenance schedules
- responsible for the day-to-day planning requirements of the business by effectively challenging the way in which the business plans in order to highlight and suggest areas for improvement whenever they arise
- reviewing and understanding of vehicle earnings and revenue reports and how to produce them
- seeking optimisation and efficiencies in the regions, enhancing their ability to optimise their trucks and resources
- working accurately and effectively with data from multiple systems including vendor managed inventory telematics, customer demand forecast
- liaise in a suitable time frame with both the Driver and the Customer in relation to delays and possible issues with delivery
- monitor capacity at depots to ensure maximum waste segregation by ensuring that vehicles are routed to the correct depot depending on the depot’s capacity
- proactive shift management. Ability to respond quickly to changing operational needs by making effective decisions based on the information available, translated into effective planning
- ability to forge excellent working relationships with Stakeholders
- order entry - single loads, multiple loads, block orders
- briefing and liaising with drivers to ensure the plan is achievable
- ability to explain efficiencies and plans to Management and Supervisors
- monitor and investigate all subcontracted work regularly and internalise the work where possible whilst ensuring the customer and business targets are met
- be able to utilise the extensive company network, working with other depots to cover outbound loads and secure reloads to ensure we are planning as efficiently and effectively as possible
- planning software systems such as Logix are their prime work tool. This is a key role that interfaces with many functional teams in I&C and as such stakeholder management and communications skills are key
Requirements
- relevant experience in a similar role
- experience of working in a comparable planning role
- works well both independently and in a team

- experience of systems such as Manpack, Mandata, Microlise is desirable
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- assertive yet diplomatic
- ideally, Health & Safety management qualification- IOSH / NEBOSH
- transport Planning: 3 years
- demonstrates an excellent attitude to work
- effective communications and report writing
- EU Drivers' Hours Rules: 3 years
- negotiation/ influencing skills
