Responsibility
- enter month end journals
- partner with the local and European Operations leadership teams
- preparing accurate and insightful management accounts with appropriate KPIs; including revenue and margin analysis

- produce accurate and timely monthly Management Accounts
- maintain schedules to reconcile Balance Sheet accounts
- produce regular forecasts of operating expense spend for the Full Service business marketing spend
- work with purchasing teams to manage rebate agreements
- preparing Accruals / Prepayments / Payroll journals
- lead the production, review and analysis of annual budgets and monthly forecasts with all relevant managers
- monthly closure of the GL to facilitate timely and accurate reporting
- calculate commissions/management charges payable to each of the groups companies in the UK & Europe
- production of management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations
- monthly Bank Reconciliations
- provide support to budget holders with variance analysis and improvement ideas
- prepare monthly schedules showing detailed analysis of all Profit and Loss accounts for cost centre managers, tax computations and budget preparation
- assist in maintaining integrity of the balance sheet by producing regular, complete and accurate balance sheet reconciliations
- operate in line with company standards for financial control to safeguard company assets and report any non-compliance
- assist in completing the annual budget and monthly forecasting cycles
- maintain the Fixed Asset Register, dealing with depreciation, additions, and disposals
- completion of Balance Sheet reconciliations
- prepare monthly expense reports for cost centre managers
- support senior management accountants when preparing business review slides for Business Leaders
- produce written variance commentary
- statutory Reporting
- to maintain an up-to-date awareness and understanding of applicable UK accounting standards, applying them as required
- control of Intrastat, quarterly VAT returns, Duty payments and liaising with HMRC
- carry out Internal Audits
- responsible for marketing operating expense budgeting in the Full Service business
- oversee and support Credit Control and Accounts Receivable
- to proactively identify and initiate continual improvements in team’s methods of working to minimise cost and improve service
- complete weekly, monthly reporting for the business and ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required
- post month end journals for the operating expenses in the Full Service business marketing business unit, including allocations to other areas of the Group
- assist with the preparation of schedules for year-end tax requirements
- assessment of debt position - weekly reporting of billing, cash collection and aged debtors to Senior Management
- to act in accordance with Company Accounting Policies, to maintain ledgers and ensure accuracy of all information
- support the Financial Controller and Finance Director with budget and forecasting process
- assist with the preparation of the Multi-Country VAT returns and Intrastat reporting
- partner with the treasury department offering financial operations support where required, including reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts
- reconciling balance sheet accounts
- any other ad hoc duties as required by the Financial Controller
- support the preparation of the Annual Statutory Accounts and year end Audit, as required
- partner with Business Leaders & senior management accountants to highlight any areas of concern or opportunity within the Full Service marketing operating expenses
- support the Controls and Compliance Manager with project work and other month end tasks as required
- providing ad-hoc reporting and analysis as requested
- analyse business performance against Budget, Forecast and Prior Year on a timely basis, providing insight and challenge to managers to drive improved business results
- assist with the preparation of forecast and annual budgeting process
- provide cover for other accounting functions as requested
- support the Finance team in developing greater freight analysis reporting
- other duties as delegated from time to time in connection with the successful operation of the department
- delivery of all forecasting and month end reporting and disclosures to Group Finance, accurately and on time
- support the Management Accountant with budget setting and re-forecasting
- ensuring that financial statements and records comply with laws and regulations
Requirements
- actively studying towards or willing to commit to completing a professional qualification
- part-Qualified member of ACA / CIMA / ACCA or qualified by experience
- strong grasp of accounting basics and financial statements, including double-entry, P&L, balance sheets, and accruals

- experience with Pivot Tables and Vlookups is advantageous
- able to demonstrate experience of working to tight deadlines in a busy working environment
- good Excel skills essential - must be able to understand and write SUMIFS, PIVOTS, LOOKUPS and build spreadsheets using formulas
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- experience of using integrated business systems / ERP in addition to accounting software
- good understanding and experience of double entry bookkeeping
- proactive attitude and ability to work on your own initiative
- excellent communication skills at all levels
