Responsibility
- lay bricks, blocks, and other masonry units according to specifications and plans
- measure and cut materials to size using hand tools and power tools
- mix mortar and other bonding agents as required for construction projects
- construct walls, chimneys, arches, and other structures using masonry techniques
- repair existing brickwork by replacing damaged bricks or repointing joints
- collaborate with other construction professionals such as carpenters and welders to ensure project completion
- maintain a clean and safe work environment by following health and safety regulations
- inspect completed work for quality assurance and compliance with building codes
Requirements
- proven experience in bricklaying or masonry is essential
- proficiency in using hand tools and power tools related to masonry work
- knowledge of construction methods and materials used in masonry
- ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately
- physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy materials and perform manual tasks for extended periods
- strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
- previous experience in roofing or related fields is advantageous but not essential
- A valid driver’s licence may be required for transportation to job sites
