Responsibility

  • you will prepare and review the menu for summer, autumn and winter menu
  • you will manage the stock, keeping an up to date list of food and manage the budget when ordering food
  • you will be planning and cooking yummy nutritional meals for the children, these will be frozen and reheated by our team throughout the week
  • you will keep a clean work environment ensuring all utensils and pans are cleaned after food prep is complete and kitchen surfaces, equipment and utensils are cleaned and tidied away to their allocated space
  • you will do regular checks to ensure the fridge and freezer is at the correct temperature. You will keep a temperature log of food served to children and ensure that food is cooked at the correct temperature
  • you will cater to all children's dietary requirements and be aware of children with allergies and food preferences when preparing meals

Requirements

  • you are passionate about cooking and creating health nutritional meals for children
  • you have proven experience in catering to and managing dietary requirements and food allergies
  • you have a good understanding of safeguarding children as well as high standards in confidentiality
  • you hold a Level 2/3 in food Hygiene and a willingness to complete a Level 3 if you do not already hold it as part of your CPD
  • you have experience being a chef creating a variety of meals preferably in a nursery environment with experience cooking for children aged 2 years – 5 years
  • kitchen experience: 1 year
  • being a Nursery chef: 1 year
  • menu planning: 1 year
