Responsibility
you will prepare and review the menu for summer, autumn and winter menu
you will manage the stock, keeping an up to date list of food and manage the budget when ordering food
you will be planning and cooking yummy nutritional meals for the children, these will be frozen and reheated by our team throughout the week
you will keep a clean work environment ensuring all utensils and pans are cleaned after food prep is complete and kitchen surfaces, equipment and utensils are cleaned and tidied away to their allocated space
you will do regular checks to ensure the fridge and freezer is at the correct temperature. You will keep a temperature log of food served to children and ensure that food is cooked at the correct temperature
you will cater to all children's dietary requirements and be aware of children with allergies and food preferences when preparing meals
Requirements
you are passionate about cooking and creating health nutritional meals for children
you have proven experience in catering to and managing dietary requirements and food allergies
you have a good understanding of safeguarding children as well as high standards in confidentiality
you hold a Level 2/3 in food Hygiene and a willingness to complete a Level 3 if you do not already hold it as part of your CPD
you have experience being a chef creating a variety of meals preferably in a nursery environment with experience cooking for children aged 2 years – 5 years
kitchen experience: 1 year
being a Nursery chef: 1 year
menu planning: 1 year
