principal engineer

Working hours

  • full-time

Responsibility

  • assessing external specialist services required to be used by the company in the performance of maintenance
  • assessing suppliers of new and used components, and materials, for satisfactory product quality in relation to the needs of the organization
  • preparing standard practices and procedures for use within the organization, derived from approved sources, and keeping them up to date
  • fault analysis in respect of aircraft undergoing maintenance so that any adverse trends are identified and responded to promptly
  • the Principal Safety & Quality Engineer is responsible for monitoring the quality and safety management systems, including the associated feedback systems and deputising for the Head of Safety & Quality during periods of absence
  • the Principal Safety & Quality Engineer will provide the necessary degree of authority when dealing with quality and safety matters and has direct access to the Accountable Manager to ensure that they are kept properly informed on safety, quality and compliance matters
  • assessing sub-contractors for extension of the quality system fand maintaining the expertise necessary to be able to do so, to the satisfaction of the MAA
  • managing event investigations and evidence gathering to identify root causes and issue appropriate recommendations for correction, including coordination of team investigators to achieve priority compliance oversight

Requirements

  • relevant experience in quality and safety management systems in an Aviation Maintenance environment
  • good understanding of EASA, UK MAA or CAA Part 145 regulations
  • previous experience as nominated Postholder
  • previous proven experience and qualifications as a Safety Investigator and Quality Auditor
  • engineering degree/ HND Engineering or similar appropriate qualification
  • people management experience
  • ability to work under pressure
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
