Responsibility

  • we run transitional rehabilitation service for people who have suffered a brain injury through accident or illness
  • we are seeking an individual who has an excellent working knowledge of plant care and garden development
  • horticultural qualification or a deep love of plants and substantial proven gardening experience is required
  • as part of their recovery we like the gardens of our services to be therapeutic, both in terms of being a beautiful place and to provide vocational and leisure opportunities
  • the role would involve engaging the people in the service in garden care such as wedding, pruning and feeding regimes, growing vegetables, growing plants from seed and cuttings and planning planting schemes
  • the Horticultural Support Worker would work alongside our Occupational Therapists to plan gardening sessions and to support individuals to develop their cognitive and physical skills through therapeutic plant care and other garden based activities
  • the candidate would need to enjoy working with people, have a good sense of humour, warm personality and good at working within a team
  • this is a part time role 6hrs a week, but can be increased through working in the other services or having a joint role doing a Rehabilitation Support Worker role to make up to larger hours
