What you will be doing: You will be reviewing new applications for ATE policies, applying your own legal knowledge. You will monitor and analyse the performance of our partner law firms’ ATE schemes. You will be involved in approving new firms of solicitors for ATE schemes, and reviewing the appropriate pricing. This will sometimes involve looking at novel areas of law. You will have a high standard of customer service when dealing with queries from our partner firms. You will work within your underwriting authority and adhere to SLAs. Who we're looking for: You will have 12 months of office-based experience and a good level of education (min 5 GCSE Grade C+). You will have a good working knowledge of MS Office and good numeracy and literacy skills. We’re particularly interested in hearing from personal injury/clinical negligence paralegals who still want to be involved in providing access to justice, but with a greater interest in the analytical/numerical side rather than day-to-day case management. Option to Work from Home up to 3 days per week We have an opportunity for experienced Underwriter to review and assess new insurance business applications. You’ll manage your own portfolio, monitoring and managing the accounts to ensure that we have the perfect balance of risk and profitability. A confident communicator, you will be accustomed to liaising with external stakeholders including brokers and insurance companies, building strong relationships that ensure that we can negotiate excellent terms. You will also work closely with the sales team, providing exceptional support and data that can be used for new scheme quote and insurance cover. With an excellent grasp of Excel, you will be able to manipulate data and demonstrate a good understanding of historical trends and future projections. Self-motivated and proactive, you will feel at ease organising your own workload, adapting to any sudden changes in the priorities. You’ll have an analytical mind and able to assess information quickly and effectively, working with large volumes of data and managing your own portfolio. Senior Underwriter (BTE) Bristol
We are looking for an experience Senior Underwriter to join the team and manage a portfolio of insurance accounts. The role requires true underwriting techniques, such as calculating burning costs, using historical experience, analysing data sets and bespoke rating for products and endorsements. You’ll be the technical point of contact for the department, providing support on related queries and be on-hand to implement training programmes to ensure individuals are all reaching the same high standard. You will also work closely with the sales team, providing exceptional support and data that can be used for new scheme quote and insurance cover. A confident communicator, you will feel at ease liaising with external stakeholders, both over the telephone and face-to-face to build strong relationships with clients. With demonstrable Underwriting experience, you will be ACII qualified or working towards. You will be extremely comfortable working with and manipulating numbers in Excel, to understand historical trends and future projections and will be able to assess information quickly and effectively. We’re looking for an individual who can train other members of the team and be the point of contact for escalated queries. What you will be doing Manage your own portfolio of insurance business, taking ownership of accounts in collaboration with the sales team. Building and maintaining strong relationships with business partners and attending customer meetings. A technical referral point for the BTE Underwriting department. Identifying the learning and development needs of the BTE Underwriting department and implementing training programmes. Review and assess new insurance business applications and provide our sales team with new scheme quotes and prices for one off insurance cover. Who we’re looking for You will have a minimum of three years Underwriting experience and will be ACII qualified or working towards. You will be extremely comfortable working with and manipulating numbers in Excel, to understand historical trends and future projections. You will have experience training team members and acting as a referral point for escalated queries. You will have excellent attention to detail and be comfortable assessing information quickly and effectively. You will enjoy working as part of a busy team, and relish in swapping from one task to another. You will therefore be organised and quick to prioritise your work as needed.
