Category Manager - Match Angling (Hybrid / Full Time) Norwich

We offer over 21,000 products from leading manufactures via our website and via our 45+ stores across the country. In July 2017, we successfully floated on the London Stock Exchange’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM) and we are investing the funds raised in opening new stores, extending our online operations and increasing our sales in Europe. This is an exciting time for the Company and we are seeking skilled, creative and enthusiastic individuals to help us attain our goals. Role: The Category Manager is responsible for buying the best quality angling equipment and goods, within the Match category, at the most competitive prices to enable Angling Direct to operate and deliver excellent value and products to our customers. Through effective negotiation, networking and dealing with numbers, the Category Manager will help Angling Direct save money and increase profits. Meeting and exceeding key performance indicators including customer service, sales per visitor, margins, product time to market, stock control, stock turns and shrinkage. The role can be home based but travel to our Head Office in Rackheath, Norwich will be required for meetings. Job Responsibilities: Forecast levels of demand for products within the Match / Course Angling category Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality using feedback from Store Manager’s and customers to guide decisions Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers Negotiate and agree contracts, monitoring the quality of service provided Process payments and invoices

Job Purpose / Overview: The Category Manager is responsible for defining, developing and delivering the category strategy and proposition, and for buying the optimum range of angling equipment at the most competitive prices to enable Angling Direct to deliver best in class product ranges at a targeted bought in margin. Through effective negotiation, networking and demand planning, with support from the Purchasing team, the Category Manager is responsible for driving improvements in Angling Direct’s profits. Working with purchasing on product selection, and negotiation with suppliers on a continual basis, the Category Manager will work closely with, and communicate frequently with many other functional teams, including Department Heads, and store operations, plus other stakeholders, ensuring close collaboration across the business, and delivery of all KPI’s. Job Responsibilities: Full P&L accountability ensuring financial targets are delivered for given category Develop a purchasing strategy for the category with annual budget and 5 year plan Developing and delivering customer centric plans that align with the business strategy and meet commercial targets Develop, own, deliver and manage strong, sustainable supplier relationships Identify and deliver product innovation and services, establishing a market leading offer Managing the full product life cycle through data driven category reviews to agreed financial KPI’s and timescales Identify any age restricted
