Responsibility
- conduct thorough inspections of workplace areas to ensure adherence to health and safety legislation
- collaborate with management to develop effective health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments
- instruct employees on the proper utilisation of protective clothing and safety devices and perform routine tests on equipment
- compile and analyse statistics on accidents and injuries, identifying root causes and providing recommendations for improvement
- maintain regular communication with employees on sick leave due to illness
- offer counselling and support to individuals facing personal or domestic challenges that may impact their work
- deliver informative talks, training sessions, and distribute relevant materials to promote accident prevention
- stay up to date with current legislation and industry best practices to ensure compliance
Requirements
- NVQ/SVQ Level 3 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety Practice
- higher level accredited qualifications obtained through the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health are a plus
- strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively advise and train employees
- analytical mindset with the ability to collect and interpret data for actionable insights
- detail-oriented approach to conducting inspections and risk assessments
- compassionate and supportive nature to provide counselling and assistance when needed
- proactive attitude towards staying informed about new regulations and industry trends
