software developer
Responsibility
- provide software development and bioinformatics expertise and input on development projects
- liaise internally to help ensure technologies and methods used in test development will meet user needs and product requirements
- you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of code and implementation of version control
- carry out the development of cloud based software solutions. Oversee transfer of existing products and tools to the cloud based infrastructure
- contribute to the development, verification and validation of software applications and tools that implement bioinformatics processing algorithms and pipelines
- produce and maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of software developed
- champion best practices in coding, testing, and documentation
- drive initiatives to improve overall code quality and development processes across the group
Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science OR a further degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or similar with a strong software development component
- experience of database design and management systems and SQL is advantageous
- knowledge of version control tools including Git
- good knowledge and understanding of the fundamental elements and workflow of software development processes
- familiar with Linux basic environment and commands
- ability to perform and troubleshoot complex bioinformatic analyses independently and to a high level of quality
- can work independently or with the team, work attitude is positive, responsible, can cooperate with company regulations
- experience of working in a commercial organisation is highly preferable
