Responsibility
turning user research findings into actionable insights that inform the design and development of services and staff experience
essential Criteria
planning, designing and conducting user research to understand user needs and behaviours, and to support the design and development of digital services
supporting the Research Operations Team to deliver services that meet the individual needs of researchers working in varied contexts across the GDS project
working collaboratively with the Research Operations Team to define research questions, plan research approach, and to prioritise findings. This might include research for the Senior Management Team into staff experience
organise the work of the ethics board by leading meetings, onboarding new board members, coordinating ethics submissions, and work with the ethics lead to carry out prioritisation and backlog refinement
Requirements
understanding and applying a range of user research methods correctly for different life cycle phases
engaging multi-disciplinary teams with a good research process in agile environments
clearly articulating to stakeholders the benefits of taking a user-centred approach, based on evidence
managing workload effectively in response to changing deadlines and priorities
applying ethical research standards and practices to ensure the safeguarding and wellbeing of participants and researchers
supporting more junior User Researchers
researching diverse audiences to deliver accessible and inclusive digital services
familiarity with the Government Digital Services
