Responsibility
put together quotations for mechanical works
leading the development of component, sub-system and system cost models using appropriate estimating techniques
handle tender preparation from acceptance of enquiry through to final submission working to strict deadlines throughout
you will demonstrate excellent commercial awareness of the engineering sector and ideally have experience of working within a manufacturing environment
the company’s workload includes projects across a variety of sectors within the UK on projects ranging from £10,000 to £20 million
experience in engineering sales would be an advantage but not essential
liaise and form relationship with clients where necessary and to obtain specific information relevant to tender content and preparation
in this role, you will be working with a team of engineers who manufacture a range of high/low volume parts and components for a variety of industries
Requirements
experience in an engineering business with welding, fabrications, sheet-metal or similar metal cutting or machining product engineering
be commercially astute, having an understanding of pricing management; competitive pricing, margin, fluctuating material costs being passed on to customers
strong commercial and business development skills, a strong negotiator
highest levels of professionalism, Confident under pressure, particularly in dealing with clients. You will own your estimate and cost plan
3 to 4 years of estimating experience
ability to read and interpret customer engineering drawings and know the manufacturing, fabrication, welding or sheet metal machining process required to create the products. Any CAD skills would be a bonus
technical Sales: 2 years
IT literate with a technical understanding of software packages relevant to the role
