Responsibility
act as the main point of contact for all safeguarding and child protection matters within the nursery
lead the team on a day to day basis
deputise for the Nursery Manager in their absence
be able to forge strong relationships with our families to ensure a 2 way flow of information is maintained
collaborate with the Business Director, to ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are robust and effective
provide guidance, training and support to the team on safeguarding policies and procedures
maintain accurate records of safeguarding concerns, incidents and referrals
attend and contribute to meetings, case conferences and multidisciplinary discussions as required
Education
wiggleberry Nursery are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager/Designated Safeguarding lead to join our friendly, professional team
the nursery is easily accessible and has both its own carpark and ‘on street’ parking
the nursery is well established and is highly recommended within the local community
in this position, you will be working with children aged 2-5, in our term time nursery, helping us to drive high standards of quality care and early education
our beautiful nursery is situated in a modern, light filled building, with access to a large outdoor play area and our own little slice of ‘woodland’ on site
you will already have a good understanding of child development and early education, combined with a passion for Safeguarding, helping us to ensure safeguarding is at the forefront of everything we do
in order to be successful in this position, you will have previous experience of being in either a lead or deputy safeguarding role, and be able to provide excellent advice and guidance to the nursery team when required
Requirements
previous experience working in a designated safeguarding role as lead or deputy is essential
experience of leadership within an early years setting an advantage
A thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures and legislation
understanding of Mosaic system and advantage
excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with the team, parents/carers and external agencies
able to take comprehensive notes and maintain accurate records
strong interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritise tasks
empathy, resilience, and the ability to maintain confidentiality in sensitive situations
