- westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Manager with a background in Nuclear to be engaged on a contract basis in Whitehaven, Cumbria
- develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets
- plans, schedules, monitors and reports on activities related to the project
- lead, support and initiate change against the Performance Measurement Baseline
- collaborate with clients, stakeholders, architects, engineers, contractors, and other project teams to ensure project success
- adheres to the established project control and reporting procedures and manages changes in operational plan
- lead, initiate and perform risk and opportunity identification and subsequent actions
- lead project teams, including contractors, subcontractors, and other staff
- undertakes status review meetings among project team members and customers. Advises Senior Management on project management capability and risk
- controls project requirements, scope and change management issues
- ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of clients
- applying the principles of continuous improvement
- review project plans and specifications to ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and standards
- defining the work scope to be delivered within the contract or package of work and the interfaces to the other elements of the programme
- keeps Senior Managers informed of progress, risks and opportunities, major concerns and value propositions
- ensuring that lessons-learnt and knowledge-capture are practised as business as usual
- securing the required resources to meet their project requirements, ensuring the maintenance of SQEP for any assigned resource and promptly identifying any personnel shortfalls or issues within their project team

- maintaining effective communications with all stakeholders and execute the project or Project Execution Plan strategies within their contract or package of work
- develop mitigating actions and escalate as appropriate
- conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure quality and safety standards are met
- driving the delivery of the contract or package activities to ensure they are delivered safely, on time, to budget, meeting business and technical requirements
- ensuring that contract or package contractual requirements are fulfilled
- support effective governance and decision making
- prepare and submit progress reports and project updates to clients and senior management
- monitoring and managing the progress of the programme - track progress against milestones, deadlines, budget and provide key stakeholders with reports on these matters

- provide reporting and engage in mechanisms that hold you to account for the delivery of the project
- anticipating, managing and resolving issues within the contract or package. Identifying risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised, develop and update the programme budget, and escalate any issues
- you will be responsible for day to day management and leadership of project and the project team. Design project structure, set appropriate delivery methodologies and manage effective transition between project phases

- responsible for all safety, health, environment and quality matters including driving excellence and championing continuous improvement

Requirements
- bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
- knowledge/Skills
- advanced interpersonal skills such as effective verbal and written communications

- proficiency in project management software and tools
- good understanding of commercial issues affecting project performance and experience in assessing value / evaluating variations of construction works undertaken

- bachelors degree in applicable disciplines are Project Management, Engineering, Business, Construction Management or related technical discipline required; Advanced degree in Project Management, Engineering or Business
