shift leader
Responsibility
- tasks include exercising and feeding the dogs, grooming and washing dogs, cleaning kennels and the reception area
- carry out health checks
- must be able and willing to work 365 days/pa including weekends, public and school holidays on a rota basis
- own transport is essential due to rural location and living locally is an advantage
- the Shift Leader is expected to do these tasks with the team and control-check to ensure high standards of care and cleanliness are maintained in all areas
- the welfare of our boarding and daycare dogs is paramount and you would need to have a scrupulous eye for detail – to carefully observe dogs’ appearance and behaviour to analyse overall physical condition, to notice signs of illness, disease or discontent
- experience in handling a wide variety of breeds and in mix-socialising dogs is preferable although this can be learned on the job from our other experienced handlers
Requirements
- experience of working with animals, reading animal behaviour & a love of dogs
- leadership - display enthusiasm & positivity. Be self-motivated. Confidence to motivate and tactfully manage staff and organise rotas
- have relentless energy, be physically fit & happy to work outside in all weathers
- communication - collaborate with management & other team members. Be empathetic, approachable & listen well
- experience delivering a high standard of customer service & dealing with a range of clients and their varying needs
- be computer literate & confident with social media
