  • the Data and Digital Innovation team are responsible for the DataLake
  • the DataLake is the main central repository of data for OHID
  • it is Microsoft SQL Server based and currently has circa 150 databases and contains over 100 billion rows of data
  • some of the data is being moved to Databricks to provide a wider platform for data analysis across DHSC
  • our analytical data engineers are tasked with maintaining and developing this resource to the highest quality
  • it is a vital resource used to produce dozens of projects by around 950 users who use various analytical tools to produce their results using tools including ‘R’, Python, PowerBI and SQL

Requirements

  • ideally to have experience of processing large scale health related datasets
  • the role requires detailed knowledge of analytical methods, please give details of how you have undertaken data analysis in a project
  • SQL Server Management Studio working with tables, views, stored procedures, and functions
  • take a systematic and thorough approach to ensure the highest quality outputs with experience of quality assurance practices and techniques e.g
  • you will be able to demonstrate that you have worked at the same or similar level in an information technology related or data science field and be able to demonstrate relevant experience
  • the role requires knowledge of SQL or similar database operations, please give details of how you have used SQL or other languages in a project
  • improve the efficiency of existing and new processes using data science and automation methods such as development of Reproducible Analytical Pipelines to generate indicators, reports and interactive products and ensure the full consideration of new technologies
  • knowledge of data security, information governance and confidentiality issues
