- the V&A is the world’s leading museum of art, design and performance, housing a collection of over 2.8 million objects that document 5,000 years of human creativity from across six continents
- the Museum holds many of UK’s designated National Collections, including sculpture, ceramics, metalwork, textiles and furniture, and including extensive collections of prints, drawings, posters, photographs and portrait miniatures
- it is also home to the National Art Library, which holds the UK’s most comprehensive public reference library for the fine and decorative arts
- the V&A public programme delivers a range of cutting-edge touring exhibitions, displays, as well as a busy programme of national and international loans
- the V&A is undergoing a generational transformation with an ambitious programme of gallery redevelopments and its expansion into a multisite museum group
- the Conservation department brings excellence and innovation to the long-term care of the V&A’s collections, supporting access to the collections, the V&A public programme, and care of collections research initiatives
- the Conservation Operations Manager is responsible for planning, scheduling and coordinating the input of the Conservation Department into V&A activities, including exhibitions, loans, displays and FuturePlan capital projects, as well as overseeing operations
- the post holder provides an effective interface between the various Conservation teams and those of other departments, as well as external contractors
