  • experience in a medical laboratory reporting blood cancer haematology is essential

  • ability to accurately undertake and report on sample investigations, analysing the outcome of tests or procedures and their clinical significance
  • experience and demonstrated success in planning, undertaking, supervising and project managing clinical diagnostics and research to deliver high quality results

Responsibility

  • perform day to day duties as planned with the section head
  • able to investigate quality control problems and plan remedial action to ensure patient safety
  • able to trouble shoot assay or equipment failings as they arise and monitor trends. The post holder will then work with the section head to implement improvements
  • the post holder will support the laboratory to conform with all health and safety legislation, local health and safety rules, regulations of the Health and Care Professions Council and the standards outlined by Clinical Pathology Accreditation Ltd/UKAS ISO15189
  • communicate scientific matters effectively with senior and junior staff within the department and to contribute to departmental meetings
