Responsibility

  • this is an exciting opportunity to join the management team within a market-leading supplier of precision scientific devices
  • our well-equipped and modern workshop is at the heart of our business and is manned by an enthusiastic and highly skilled team of machinists who are used to working under pressure when required to deliver, and work closely with other departments throughout the building
  • the successful candidate will be a motivating leader, right at the front of this team, both driving them to greatness and striving for better whilst ensuring that other departments supply the right information and tools to get the job done right first time
  • provide direction and daily management to the manufacturing team
  • the role would suit a someone with people and process management skills and a hands-on background who has worked in a similar precision manufacturing environment involving the management of both manual and CNC machining centres and a team of skilled operators and is looking to build on that experience as part of a data-driven and modern manufacturing facility
  • the role demands an energetic, communicative, methodical, and organised person with a driven approach to work and key to the role is ensuring that the manufacturing side of the business can satisfy customer and internal demand at all times, planning maintenance, material and resourcing accordingly through our ERP system
  • additionally, the Manufacturing Manager is expected to champion health, safety and quality standards across the department and the business as a whole
  • identify and implement Lean and quality improvement projects to reduce waste and increase efficiency throughout the production process

Requirements

  • minimum 3 years experience of production or workshop management in a mechanical or precision engineering environment
  • an open, collaborative, and communicative leadership style and experience motivating and mentoring staff to success is essential
  • A minimum HNC in an engineering discipline
  • hands on experience of machining and tooling within a precision manufacturing environment using CNC and manual machining methods
  • A background in production engineering is desirable, with a working knowledge of works order creation, routing, processing ECN’s etc
  • A health and safety qualification would be a distinct advantage
  • experience of working with an ERP / MRP system for works order processing / material transactions is essential, experience of working with SFDC would also be a bonus
  • excellent communication and presentation skills at all levels
